Mental Well-being in Public Schools

Across Vietnam, many students, particularly those in mountainous and rural regions, face significant challenges to their mental health. With limited access to support services and deep-rooted social stigma, young people often struggle in silence. Recognizing this need, REACH launched the Mental Well-being in Vietnam Public Schools Program, a six-month initiative focused on improving mental health awareness and support in underserved area.

Targeting 32 public secondary schools across Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Ba Vi, and several Central Coast provinces, the program aims to directly support 4,800 students and 480 teachers, while indirectly benefiting over 19,000 students and 14,000 family members through the creation of supportive school environments.

This initiative not only equips youth with essential life skills but also empowers schools to sustain mental wellness efforts long after the program ends. With an expected 80% of participating students reporting improved well-being and over half of schools continuing mental health activities, we are laying the foundation for long-term change.

By addressing stigma, training educators, and building youth leadership, REACH is making mental health a priority in the classroom and in the community.
